It’s time to play… FAMILY FEUD! Give it up for Steveeee Harveyyyyyy.
Welcome to Family Feud, everybody. I’m your man Steve Harvey. We’ve got a good one for you today… from Silicon Valley, it’s the Nguyen family!
Top 10 questions on the board. We asked Math Teacher Alexandra Nguyen:
Q: When was your Family Feud recording and how many episodes were you on for?
A: “May at Universal Studios, 4 [episodes]. They were all recorded all on the same day. The filming lasted an hour and a half per episode and so they had to narrow it down to just 20 minutes.”
Q: Who did you attend Family Feud with?
A: “I went with my dad (Tim Nguyen) and three of my cousins (Josh Du, Andy Ho, and Lydia Nguyen).”
Q: What inspired your family to go on the show?
A: “[My dad] watches it every night at 7pm for the past couple of years, and he just loves it. He laughs, he screams out the answers, so we saw a commercial that said they were coming to the Bay Area for auditions so we thought, ‘Why not? Let’s just try it.’”
Q: Were there many cues or rules you had to remember?
A: “At the buzzer, it was very strict. We had to have one hand behind our back and then our other hand flat. We couldn’t talk to each other individually when we did our individual answer. Huddling is sort of required but it’s also strategy because it’s the only time we can discuss answers.”
Q: What was Steve Harvey like?
A: “We actually only interacted with Steve Harvey on camera. Whatever you saw, that was basically what Steve Harvey is like. For him, he’s really funny, quick on his feet with comebacks and definitely works really hard!”
Q: What were some memorable responses that you or your family members gave?
A: “One I remember would be Josh’s answer responding to the coffee question, ‘How you would describe yourself and also coffee?’And he said, ‘I’m not this but strong. I like my coffee strong.’ The most memorable answer would be my dad’s answer in the 4th episode. The question was, ‘We surveyed 100 married men. I wished my wife’s bottom looked like who’s?’ and my dad answered, ‘MYSELF.’”
Q: What was the most suspenseful moment in your whole Family Feud experience?
A: “The most suspenseful moment throughout the show was probably the sudden death rounds. Josh was amazing! We wouldn’t have won without him.”
Q: What was your favorite part of the show?
A: “I would say just spending time with family. It’s a very unique experience that you rarely get to be on TV with your family game show. We definitely had fun!”
Q: Here’s the big question: how much did you win in total? Any plans for the money?
A: “We won all three games, and we won Fast Money twice, around $40,600 but minus taxes. I’m planning on doing the following: pay off some bills, tithe, invest, and put it into my small business. I have a calligraphy and stationery design business that I am slowly trying to start up.”
Q: Any plans to try Jeopardy or another game show?
A: “No, I don’t have any other plans to try another game show. We’re sticking with Family Feud, so see you again in 10 years!”
