Costco food court items ranked by taste, value

Costco is renowned not only for its affordable products but also for its reasonably priced and delicious food court selection.

Ranked last is Costco’s rotisserie chicken Caesar salad, an item that has recently returned to the food court in the past few years. You could say I hate my veggies, but this item simply pales in comparison to the rest of the selection. It tastes the same as every other salad – bland and depressing.

One thing the salad has going for it is that it uses Costco’s famous rotisserie chicken for the meat, but aside from that, the salad doesn’t offer much else. In fact, this salad reminds me a lot of the school’s Caesar salad, which is decent at best. This salad isn’t very eye-catching, and at a price of $7 is more expensive than other superior items.

Next up is the roast beef sandwich. Similar to the Caesar salad, Costco’s roast beef sandwich is similar to the roast beef sandwich served at school, although Costco’s version is far better. Costco’s roast beef sandwich features soft, tender roast beef, mustard, and vegetables, all inside a ciabatta roll.

The flavors of the beef and the sauce blend well, but there is a little too much bread. The low color saturation of the vegetables makes the sandwich look depressing. Priced at $10, the roast beef sandwich is the most expensive item on the menu, and when compared to other items, I believe that it should be knocked down a few dollars.

The next three items have a drastic increase in flavor from the previously mentioned items. First, priced at $1.50, the hot dog is extremely affordable and large for its cost. Huge bonuses of the meal include the free condiments on the side and a soft drink. The condiments can greatly enhance the flavor of the hotdog, and the soft drink is a great drink to pair with the hotdog. Although it appears to be a simple boiled hot dog from the outside, the Costco hot dog is a delicious and affordable meal.

It was extremely hard to decide on the second-best item in the food court menu, but ultimately, it is Costco’s pizza. What sticks out about the pizza’s taste is the sweet and savory tomato sauce. It blends well with the cheese and toppings, blowing the past three food court items out of the park. These pizza slices are large as well, being larger than most people’s heads. To top it all off, Costco’s pizza comes in at a cheap $1.99, with one whole box of pizza priced at $9.95, cheaper than one roast beef sandwich from the food court.

The best item in the food court, a timeless classic, is the chicken bake. With its crispy and delectable breading, it creates a satisfying crunch sound when bitten into. The chicken is basted with Caesar dressing and mixed alongside bacon, green onions, mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan cheese to create a savory flavor. The chicken bake stands out due to its crispy exterior. The chicken bake, which is priced at $4, is my favorite food court item at Costco.
