Save cash at these local restaurants

Finding affordable food in the Bay Area can be hard, especially for teens who want to eat something good without spending too much money. However, I found some great places in Milpitas to keep your stomach full and your wallet fuller.

One place in Milpitas that stands out is Sen Dai Sushi in North Milpitas. This is a must-try spot for people who are visiting Milpitas because it is one of the most popular places in the South Bay. They offer sushi rolls for $6, and all of their fish is super fresh. The tuna rolls cost $6.50, and the fish was cool and fresh. I watched them cut up my fish and make my order. The flavors were simple but very pleasant and had a slight vinegary taste, especially when I ate it with soy sauce.

Another highlight was the Alaska roll, which cost around $. The avocado added a smooth texture that balanced well with the salmon and seaweed. The combo made the roll feel easy to eat and filling due to the avocado.

Sen Dai Sushi also has some delicious appetizers, such as the chicken karaage and the garlic edamame. The chicken karaage cost around $13 and contained a plate full of crispy fried chicken sitting on a bed of chopped lettuce. The chicken kept a crisp outside without losing the juicy, tender inside. The sweet and spicy sauce paired perfectly with the chicken, making it one of my favorite dishes from here. As for the garlic edamame, its sauce added a salty flavor that the regular edamame lacked.

Another affordable restaurant in Milpitas is China Rose. Their $8 Kung Pao chicken is easily one of the best dishes. The sauce had a salty, smooth, strong flavor and a nice spicy kick to it. The peanuts were very crispy and the chicken paired super well with the chili pieces and veggies they added.

The broccoli chicken had a thick sauce that coated the chicken well, which made the meat taste very juicy and flavorful.

The egg fried rice was another great option, with the soft scrambled egg mixing well with the flavorful rice. There were carrots that were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, peas which were nice and soft and blended well in the rice, and the ot and sour soup had a thick texture, costing around $6. What makes this unique is the long bamboo shoots in the soup, which give it a crunch.

Kathmandu Cuisine offers Nepalese food. The flavors were very unique and tasty due to the different spices they used. The most popular dish is the Momos for $15. They were easily the best item I tried in the restaurant. The first bite was a juicy chicken ball with great seasoning on the inside, and the sauce had a spicy flavor that gave it a unique taste while still not being too spicy.

Another great item from Kathmandu Cuisine is the Veggie Hakka Noodles, which also cost $15. The noodles were very spicy but also very flavorful. The dish had a strong spicy aftertaste to it and is great for people who like spicy food.

In the end, eating out in Milpitas can still be affordable if you know where to go. These restaurants all had great food for solid prices making them great choices for students looking for something that would keep their stomach full and their wallet fuller.
