Humans of MHS: Jaylen Mims

“If I was ever really feeling depressed, I would just start playing a really pumped-up song. Or I would play a song that was ultra depressing, and it kind of numbed out the depression. It just makes me think about why I was depressed, and then I’ll kind of start working on steps to help myself out and get out of that phase, so I feel a lot better throughout the day. I like music. Music’s everything in my day. If not for music, I probably would have been really sad or really depressed or just really angry. If not for music, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Music makes me me. All kinds of music, Panic! At The Disco, Kodak Black, all that stuff, some kind of rock, if it fits my mood and it helps me, it helps me. I love music. Music is life. Music is just my way to get through school.”
