The senior class went on their graduation trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo on May 29, 2025. The experience was overall very fun, with a lot of rides for people to go on, good food, and good energy from everyone who came, in the bus and at Six Flags.
The senior trip’s vibe was very good, and seniors were able to meet up with people they hadn’t talked to as much, senior Tovie Pascual said.
“I hung out with friends that I haven’t seen or hung out with in a while, and they just welcomed me right back into the group,” Pascual said. “So it was super fun. Everyone was friendly.”
Getting to ride a scary roller coaster was something Pascual had never done, as he had just ridden easier roller coasters before, but it was also a very good experience, Pascual said.
“The first ride I took was Superman, and I didn’t know how to ride an extreme roller coaster,” Pascual said. “So, I remember on Superman I was looking down, and then the ride was so fast that I remember my neck collapsing.”
The food at the senior trip was very good and filling, senior Jared Santos said.
“I was able to get a great deal at a sports bar they had there,” Santos said. “I had a burger, fries, a chocolate sundae, and it all came with a drink too.”
The lines were pretty fast, and people that he knew were able to go on a decent amount of rides, Santos said.
“It went by really quickly because we went on the popular rides first,” Santos said. “And then the Joker, that was probably the longest wait time we had, because there were a lot of people at the time.”
Overall, the trip had some problems with timing and things going wrong, but the trip was still good, senior class president Jerry Zhong said.
“There was the Leo B. Murphy Awards (Athletic Awards), which affected how much time we were able to spend at the park, since we had to get all the senior athletes back to the awards night,” Zhong said. “Plus, one of the buses broke down from overheating, so one of the other buses had to go pick them back up and bring them to the park.”
The planning for the senior grad trip started at the beginning of the year, as it was one of their major events, Zhong said. In this planning, they planned out a date to do the trip, contacted Six Flags to set their day, and got charter buses, Zhong said. Once they started selling tickets, they had some obstacles and had to eventually get more buses, Zhong said.
“When we first sold tickets, we sold out on the first day actually, during our first sale,” Zhong said. “And then after a lot of emails from students and parents to us officers and Ms. Querubin, we ended up adding two more buses on top of the six we had. Overall, the main goal was for seniors to have fun, since it is the end of the year and we are about to graduate.”
The senior trip’s overall experience was very enjoyable and was a good trip to end the year, Pascual said.
“I was super excited and it was hard to sleep that night because of all the excitement,” Pascual said. “Also, after (Senior) Sunset, Sunset actually made me sad, because I was realizing how all of my friends are about to leave. This was just more fun.”
