So you just got rejected…

High school is a time period in which many teenagers experience dating for the first time. However, with the love and joy of teen dating comes rejection. Many teens find themselves laying in bed late at night, staring at the ceiling in dismay thinking, “What went wrong?” “I wish I could go back in time…” “If only I…”

These thoughts flood the minds of these unfortunate teens, adding to the mental pressure they face daily. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Rejection is not the be-all-end-all of life. It is only an obstacle that you must learn to overcome.

Many teens find themselves imagining a life in which they and their crush live happily ever after. However, many of these teens end up being turned down and left heartbroken.

After this rejection, you may find yourself distraught, and that’s okay, but at some point you need to pull yourself back up.

There are various stories out there about high school students ruining their lives over the love of their life rejecting them. In order to regain your footing, you need to approach the situation from a different perspective.

Not everyone you meet may see the value within you. The truth is, everyone has their own preferences, and you just might not fit their tastes. You shouldn’t have to change yourself to fit someone else’s ideals.

Focusing on other aspects of your life may help you clear your thoughts. Make sure you have ample free time to do the things that make you happy, whether it be video games, going on a run, or hanging out with friends.

You also need to make sure you’re taking care of yourself to have the best chance. Get enough sleep, make sure you’re eating healthy, and make sure you’re exercising.

Try not to resort to addictive activities to distract yourself like overeating, scrolling, or similar things. This can actually be more counterproductive and may make things worse in the long run.

Consider being rejected a chance to grow. You may find more people and better opportunities in the future. Things that seem so incredibly significant in the moment may not seem nearly as important later on.

Rejection is only an obstacle in life that you must overcome. Everyone experiences it at some point, but many fail to properly address it. Understanding that these moments are only one small part of your life is the key to healing.
