Annual soak a senior senior event brings students together

Seniors cooled off during an annual Soak a Senior event on Friday May 22 at the senior overhang, where students pay to dump cups or buckets of water on senior class and ASB officers during lunch.

The event was packed with students lining up to soak their classmates right after lunch started. The atmosphere was very lively and vibrant as the seniors screamed when they got buckets and cups of water poured on them.

Students could pay $1 for a cup of water and $2 dollars for a bucket with ice for an extra dollar.

Junior Ty Do attended because the event looked fun and gave students a chance to spend time with their friends in a fun and unique way, he said

“I thought it was a lot of fun, and it seemed pretty cool,” Do said

The event created a more positive atmosphere on campus, Do said.

“I think the energy is very exciting and fun,” Do said.

Senior Ethan Nguyen said the event brought students together, and it keeps school spirit high during the final weeks of the school year, he added.

“It’s really upbeat and fun,”  Ethan Nguyen said. “It’s just a bunch of people having fun and dumping water on each other.”

Soak a Senior continues to be an important tradition for9+ seniors because it allows students to enjoy one of their final events together before graduation, Ethan Nguyen said.

“I think Soak a Senior has been a tradition, so it was fun that we did it this year,” Jason Nguyen said. “It always keeps school spirit up.”

Senior, Jason Nguyen has lots of fond memories of being a student at high school, he said.

“My favorite senior memory will probably be science camp – being able to be a counselor for other kids” Jason Nguyen said. “.”

Ethan Nguyen’s feelings about graduating changed as the date got closer, and he believes he is going to miss MHS, he said

“At first, I didn’t really care as much,” Ethan Nguyen said. “But getting closer to the grad date, I’m starting to appreciate my last moments here a lot more.”

Ethan Nguyen thinks underclassmen should focus less on other people’s opinions and enjoy high school while they can, he said.

“Do what you want to do,” Ethan Nguyen said. “Or you’re going to live with regrets for the rest of your life.”
